TC: Transcend Christ

noctishearttheprideful:

In Xenosaga, our story takes place entirely in a frame of reference wherein humanity believes itself to have transcended both the need and influence of religious ideas and morals over society. The game begins in TC 4767, thousands of years after leaving earth (although it is speculated that the use of light-speed and other space related travel affected what humans perceived as time).

In the year A.D. 2510, the world-wide central management organization responsible for the space emigration plan changed the current calendar from A.D.

So I just realized that the imaginary domain is actually the scientifically contested and theorized Fifth Dimension of reality.

We have four dimensions. The three of physical space, and the fourth is time.

However the fifth dimension is a hypothetical space that would exist beyond our own and is represented by N in mathematics: therefore the imaginary domain.

The fifth dimension would contain properties beyond the ones that exist within the three dimensions of physical reality and even beyond the fourth dimension of time, so anything that can exist within the N dimensions would be a cut above the rest of us: the Testaments and the Gnosis.

Just interesting to think about.

Jin…Now I think I understand what Wilhelm wanted to do, just a little bit better. His methods may have been wrong, but now, I think I understand the logic behind his reasons. Living the same life, over and over again, but living those lives without any regrets is what really matters. That is probably what the ideal vision of being human is all about. However, we humans are really not that strong. And we know that we can’t live like that. We’re creatures that are much more flawed, weak, and smaller than that. We hurt others, we lie to ourselves, we hate, we blame others, we regret, but even if we are weak, and even if is our fate to disappear entirely I think the will to change the future is still an important one. We must try to change the things around us, little by little. Even if it is one step at a time, and even if everything is already predetermined, it isn’t something for us to be sad about. No, on the contrary, the future is overflowing with hope. And we have infinite paths to choose from. Isn’t that right? chaos? KOS-MOS?

Xenosaga Episode II: Jenseits von Gut und Bose
Despite the ease of which many fans of this series and RPGs in general hop onto the bandwagon to ‘bash’ this title, there are a few things you shouldn’t forget.
Xenosaga Episode II, while being the weak link of the series in most respects, has some of the best plot moments and character building of the whole series. The entire URTV arc alone makes the game, and anyone who doesn’t mind (or even loves difficulty) will find the battle system to be a unique challenge.
Plus, without Episode II, our European friends would have never entered the series. A big applause to them, because there is obviously something beloved about Episode II that caused our across-the-sea neighbors to fall in love with a series in the same way we fell in love with Episode I.
It’s okay to not like Episode II, but it is a necessary and unique part of the magnificent Xenosaga trilogy, and if you’ve only played this title once, you may find yourself enjoying it more the second time through. I did.

I guess I have to reblog this again.

With the technological advances, RPGs have remarkably become beautiful and dramatic, but we learnt from our own experience that games shouldn’t be something just to watch. It’s not that games don’t need good stories, it’s that we developers should think first of what gamers are looking forward [to]. Now we’re trying to get back to basics, to provide sheer enjoyment of games again.
